Casa Marrone Primitivo

A full-bodied Primitivo wine from the rolling hills of Puglia in southern Italy. Before arriving in your glass, the wine is sealed by hand with the traditional spago. "Spago” means string in Italian. The technique dates back to the time when it was used to hold the cork in place.

This Primitivo wine meets you with flavors of black cherries, plum, chocolate, oak, and vanilla. Primitivo – the Zinfandel from southern Italy.

All wines from Casa Marrone are made with organic grapes.

How we made this wine

Primitivo means "the early one" - and is among the first of the southern Italian varieties to ripen. The grapes reach optimal ripeness in mid August and are harvested at the ideal moment. After a careful destemming, the grapes are crushed and placed in the tanks where the fermentation will take place. The wine remain in contact with the skins for about 10-12 days. During this time, Casa Marrone Primitivo gets its deep, ruby color, velvety tannins and deep flavors of ripe plum and cherries. Finally, the wine rest in tanks of stainless steel before it reaches your glass.
